Senior Security Engineer – R&D, Secure Systems Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia.

📋 Description

• Oversee security engineering efforts for intricate systems, platforms, and components related to R&D projects.

• Convert security architecture, requirements, and threat models into actionable technical controls.

• Design and deploy security mechanisms across networks, operating systems, applications, and cloud environments.

• Conduct threat modelling, security risk assessments, hardening, and penetration testing.

• Evaluate system designs and configurations from a security standpoint.

• Drive the resolution of complex security issues and assist in root-cause analysis.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.

• Create and co-create technical security documentation for R&D outputs and reports.

• Deliver validated and implemented security controls and configurations.

• Generate threat models, assessments, validation reports, technical security designs, hardening documentation, security architectures, and sections for R&D deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience in cyber security or secure systems engineering.

• Strong understanding of network, infrastructure, operating system, application, and data security.

• Experience in designing and implementing security controls within complex or distributed systems.

• Practical experience with security testing, vulnerability management, and system hardening.

• Knowledge of cloud computing, virtualization, containers, DevSecOps, PKI, and cryptography.

• Experience leading technical security workstreams or mentoring other engineers.

• Readiness to undergo a government security clearance process.

• CISSP, OSCP, GIAC, or cloud security certifications are advantageous.
