Senior SDS Substation Designer 1 – Grid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers.

• Develop high and/or extra high voltage substation design packages with minimal supervision.

• Create 3D models that include General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Sections, Electrical Connection Details, Foundation Plans, Grounding Plans, Grounding Details, Conduit and Trench Plans, Conduit Details, Control Building Layout, Control Building Details, Bill of Material, Cable Schedules, and Shielding Plan drawings.

• Utilize Inventor, AutoCAD, P4A, and SDS software.

• Interpret and integrate vendor information into design deliverables.

• Perform walkdowns at client substation facilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, or a high school diploma coupled with 5 or more years of 3D drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• At least 10 years of experience in preparing 3D substation models and physical design.

• Proficiency in 3D design using AutoCAD, Inventor, P4A, Vault Pro, and SDS.

• Ability to visualize in three dimensions.

• Capability to layout substation equipment according to client or IEEE standards.

• Competence in adhering to CAD standards.

• Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles involved in creating technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

• Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology.

• Proficient in using BlueBeam for BOM counts, reviewing, and self-checking drawings.

• Knowledgeable in AutoCAD Electrical.
