Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assist in the enhancement and support of vital applications operating within IBM i / AS400 environments.

• Work together with technical teams, business partners, and project leaders.

• Spearhead the analysis, design, development, and upkeep of strategic IBM i applications.

• Provide dependable solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Evaluate, design, code, and test applications utilizing all versions of RPG and SQL.

• Maintain program and application integrity during unit, integration, and smoke testing phases.

• Generate clear written and visual documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Take the lead of a small technical team when necessary.

• Supervise code reviews pertaining to logical and database modifications.

• Assist clients in upgrading their legacy applications to modern, scalable ILE architectures.

• Offer consulting services to clients to enhance their business applications and systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient spoken and written French.

• Capability to engage with individuals at different organizational levels and clarify functional and technical concepts.

• Over 20 years of practical experience with the IBM i platform (iSeries / AS400).

• Strong command of various RPG formats, especially RPGLE, Free-form syntax, and embedded SQL.

• Expert application programming experience with DB2 and database modeling techniques.

• Advanced comprehension of the ILE environment, encompassing modules, service programs, and binding directories.

• Familiarity with structured deployment and version-control methodologies.

• Experience with significant ERP systems on IBM i, such as Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, and HFA.

• Background in distribution, manufacturing, finance, or insurance sectors.

• Proficiency with RDi (Rational Developer for i) or Eclipse-based IDEs.

• Practical experience with Git or SVN in an IBM i setting.

• Familiarity with impact analysis tools.

• Experience in integration solutions utilizing APIs, JSON, XML, or platforms like GoAnywhere.
