Senior RPG Programmer, Analyst – Remote

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design, create, maintain, and provide support for applications on IBM i / AS400.

• Enhance and provide support for existing enterprise applications utilizing RPG, RPGLE, CL, and IBM i SQL.

• Comprehend, maintain, and make modifications to current Synon2/E (COOL 2/E) code.

• Analyze both business and technical requirements and convert them into actionable solutions suitable for the client environment.

• Engage in the complete software development lifecycle, which includes analysis, development, testing, implementation, and post-production support.

• Diagnose production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and apply long-lasting solutions.

• Collaborate with business users, developers, analysts, and support teams on various initiatives.

• Assist with incident, change, and problem management activities.

• Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and establish development best practices.

• Enhance the reliability, maintainability, and supportability of essential business applications.

• Offer support and mentorship to less experienced team members as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in IBM i / AS400 application development.

• Strong practical proficiency in RPG / RPGLE.

• Familiarity with CL and IBM i SQL.

• Working knowledge of Synon2/E (COOL 2/E).

• Experience in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing client enterprise applications.

• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, encompassing development, testing, deployment, and support.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, especially in production support settings.

• Capability to work efficiently with technical teams and business stakeholders.

• Proficiency in managing priorities among development, maintenance, and support tasks.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
