Senior RPG Programmer, Analyst – JDA, MMS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee the analysis, design, development, and upkeep of essential IBM i applications.

• Offer consulting services to support clients’ business application systems.

• Assist clients in troubleshooting application issues and pinpointing business requirements.

• Provide solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Analyze, design, code, and test software applications utilizing all versions of RPG and SQL.

• Ensure the integrity of programs and applications through unit, integration, smoke, and various other testing phases.

• Develop textual and visual system architecture documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Lead small technical teams when necessary.

• Conduct code reviews for changes in database and logic.

• Facilitate the modernization of legacy business applications into contemporary, scalable ILE applications.

• Work both independently and collaboratively with clients and teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 20 years of demonstrated experience with the IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) platform.

• Proficient in various forms of RPG, particularly RPGLE, including Free-form syntax and embedded SQL.

• Proven hands-on experience with JDA/MMS (Mandatory).

• Expert-level skills in DB2 application programming and database design.

• In-depth understanding of ILE concepts, such as Modules, Service Programs, and Binding Directories.

• Experience with structured deployment and version control processes.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various levels of client personnel.

• Ability to convey technical concepts to both business stakeholders and developers.

• Familiarity with major IBM i ERP systems, RDi or Eclipse-based IDEs, Git or SVN, Impact Analysis tools, APIs, JSON, XML, or GoAnywhere is a plus.
