Senior RPG Programmer, Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and support applications on IBM i / AS400.

• Primarily work with RPG, RPGLE, CL, and IBM i SQL to enhance and support existing enterprise applications.

• Understand, maintain, and modify current Synon2/E (COOL 2/E) components.

• Analyze business and technical requirements, translating them into effective solutions.

• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including analysis, development, testing, implementation, and post-production support.

• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.

• Collaborate with business users, developers, analysts, and support teams across various initiatives.

• Support incident, change, and problem management activities.

• Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and development best practices.

• Enhance the reliability, maintainability, and supportability of core business applications.

• Provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced team members when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in IBM i / AS400 application development.

• Strong hands-on expertise in RPG / RPGLE.

• Experience with CL and IBM i SQL.

• Familiarity with Synon2/E (COOL 2/E).

• Experience in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing client enterprise applications.

• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and support.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, particularly in production support settings.

• Capability to work efficiently with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

• Ability to prioritize tasks across development, maintenance, and support activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Experience in the healthcare industry.

• Familiarity with RxClaim or other PBM adjudication systems.

• Experience in leading technical tasks, projects, or mentoring junior developers.

• Exposure to modernization or integration initiatives involving client IBM i applications.

• Knowledge of newer technologies or platforms such as Java, Python, Angular, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
