This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the analysis, design, development, and upkeep of essential IBM i applications that support business operations.
• Create architectural solutions that merge the dependability of legacy systems with modern efficiencies.
• Work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
• Offer consulting services to clients to enhance their business application systems.
• Assist clients in troubleshooting application issues, identifying business requirements, and providing solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Analyze, design, code, and test software applications using all iterations of RPG and SQL.
• Maintain the integrity of programs and applications during various testing stages.
• Convert system architecture into clear written and visual documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Lead a small technical team when necessary.
• Conduct code reviews for logic and database modifications.
• Support clients in transforming their current business applications into modern, scalable ILE solutions.
• Over 20 years of demonstrated experience on the IBM i platform (iSeries / AS/400).
• Expertise in various versions of RPG, especially RPGLE, including Free-form syntax and embedded SQL.
• Proven hands-on experience with JDA/MMS (mandatory).
• Advanced application programming and database modeling capabilities with DB2.
• Comprehensive understanding of ILE concepts (modules, service programs, binding directories).
• Familiarity with structured deployment and version-control methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with stakeholders at varying levels within client organizations.
• Capability to articulate the technical "why" in business terms to decision-makers and the technical "how" in technical terms to developers.
• Experience with major ERP systems on IBM i (Infor LX, BPCS, Infor XA, MAPICS, PRMS, JDE, Frontier, HFA, etc.).
• Proficient in RDi (Rational Developer for i) or Eclipse-based IDEs.
• Practical knowledge of Git or SVN within an IBM i environment.
• Familiarity with impact analysis tools.
• Experience with integration solutions utilizing APIs, JSON, XML, and other specialized tools like GoAnywhere.
