
Senior Renewable Studies Engineer – NERC Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Lead and assist with NERC compliance initiatives for clients in the renewable energy and electric power sectors.
• Create processes, controls, documentation, and plans for continuous improvement.
• Act as a technical and regulatory expert on NERC Reliability Standards.
• Facilitate compliance for inverter-based resources, covering registration, performance, modeling, validation, and readiness requirements.
• Oversee reliability requirements impacting significant computational loads and devise client-specific compliance strategies and gap assessments.
• Establish internal controls, evidence-management methodologies, and documentation for audit readiness.
• Draft compliance policies, procedures, technical reports, evidence packages, and training resources.
• Work collaboratively with teams in engineering, operations, project management, information technology, and external partners.
• Monitor updates in NERC standards, FERC regulations, Regional Entity expectations, and practices related to grid reliability.
• Engage with clients both virtually and in-person as required to clarify requirements, share findings, and offer recommendations.
• Create and present workshops, training sessions, and presentations.
• Leverage digital tools, automation, and data analytics to enhance compliance tracking and reporting.
• Provide support and mentorship to engineers and contribute to NEI standards, templates, and best practices.
• Uphold ethical, professional, and safety standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems from an accredited four-year institution.
• At least 5+ years of progressive experience in managing NERC compliance programs, audit readiness, power-system compliance, or a similar field.
• Proficiency in two or more of the following: PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, or TSAT.
• Understanding and experience in the development of relay protection and settings.
• Strong familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards, including PRC, FAC, MOD, VAR, CIP, TOP, EOP, or related obligations.
• Experience in enhancing compliance programs, internal controls, evidence-management processes, policies, or procedures.
• Background in supporting NERC or Regional Entity audits, spot checks, self-certifications, data requests, or other regulatory engagements.
• Ability to interpret complex regulatory and technical requirements and convert them into actionable steps.
• Knowledge of risk-based compliance methods, gap assessments, corrective-action planning, and compliance management practices.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capable of collaborating across various disciplines, leading workstreams, mentoring colleagues, and fostering client relationships.
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Professional Engineering Licensure, NERC-Certified System Operator, CRCM, or other relevant certifications/licensure are preferred.
• Familiarity with PowerFactory, ETAP, or ASPEN is preferred.
• Experience with compliance-management platforms, workflow automation, dashboards, or data analytics is preferred.
• Option for fully remote work.
