This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.
• Spearhead media advocacy initiatives for a designated region encompassing Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Puerto Rico in both English and Spanish.
• Contribute to campaign strategies and execute tactics that support policy objectives and revenue efforts.
• Create targeted media lists and cultivate relationships with Capitol press corps, health journalists, and a variety of news outlets.
• Compose talking points, fact sheets, press releases and advisories, opinion pieces, and letters to the editor.
• Obtain editorial meetings and secured media placements through digital outreach and pitching story concepts.
• Support strategic media advocacy strategies for local, state, and federal policy initiatives.
• Craft messaging tailored to political contexts and legislative activities.
• Mentor others on creating press releases, media advisories, letters to the editor, op-eds, talking points, FAQs, fact sheets, speeches, presentations, and other media content.
• Organize and oversee press conferences and editorial board meetings.
• Maintain relationships with the press, engage with reporters, respond to media inquiries, and monitor and report on media outcomes and trends.
• Collaborate with ACS Marketing & Communications staff and ACS CAN media advocacy colleagues.
• Oversee media initiatives that support ACS CAN fundraising efforts.
• Conduct media training sessions and identify, vet, and prepare staff and volunteer spokespeople.
• Represent ACS CAN in coalitions for priority campaigns.
• Enhance ACS CAN's visibility through media outreach related to legislative and voter education efforts.
• A Bachelor's Degree is required.
• 2–3 years of experience in journalism, public relations, and/or legislative communications.
• Proficiency in Spanish is required.
• Familiarity with the legislative and/or political landscape.
• Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision and as either a team member or leader.
• Proven ability to manage fast-paced, time-sensitive situations with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Competence in completing tasks efficiently and accurately within designated timeframes.
• Ability to leverage available technology to fulfill job responsibilities.
• Proactive self-starter with a knack for generating ideas and effective messaging.
• Skilled at working independently in a remote work environment.
• Some overnight travel for meetings may be necessary.
