Senior Rails Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and uphold essential software utilized by clients.

• Assume responsibility for a designated section of the codebase.

• Deliver production-ready Ruby on Rails features from start to finish.

• Write and critique code.

• Create data models.

• Mentor and support a team of 1–3 junior engineers.

• Collaborate with product managers to finalize projects and nurture talent.

• Act proactively within a small, dynamic startup environment.

• Refine code and implement meticulous data design.

• Maintain rigorous testing standards.

• Utilize AI development tools like Claude Code or Codex to expedite the development process.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience as a mid-level engineer at a rapidly growing technology firm.

• Strong working knowledge of most of the following: Ruby on Rails, Stimulus, JavaScript, Bootstrap, CSS3, Hotwire/Turbo, RSpec, ViewComponent, SQL/Postgres, Git, and SQL reporting tools.

• Proven history of thoughtful refactoring, meticulous data design, and disciplined testing.

• Experience in assessing and integrating third-party software and APIs.

• Robust hands-on experience with Claude Code, Codex, or comparable AI development tools.

• Understanding of underlying AI models to choose suitable tools.

• Familiarity with Agile practices.

• Experience with Terraform, AWS, and/or Google Cloud is a plus.

• Experience in developing HIPAA-compliant products involving PHI is a plus.

• Knowledge of multi-tenant SaaS architecture is an advantage.
