Senior QA Automation Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance the enterprise automation framework that supports the State's integrated healthcare eligibility system.

• Provide technical leadership regarding automation architecture, framework design, coding standards, and best practices in automation.

• Assess and modernize current automation frameworks to boost maintainability, scalability, reliability, and execution efficiency.

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, and QA personnel to establish automation strategies, reusable test assets, and technical solutions.

• Design, execute, and sustain functional, system integration, API, regression, performance, and end-to-end automation suites for web, mobile, and API applications.

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Maintain and optimize automated test suites as software features evolve while minimizing execution time.

• Act as the primary liaison for client representatives, business analysts, and product owners concerning QA, testing progress, and readiness for release.

• Convert business requirements and acceptance criteria into executable automated test cases and scenarios.

• Present test outcomes, coverage metrics, and defect trends to client stakeholders.

• Lead and facilitate User Acceptance Testing sessions with client end-users.

• Identify, log, track, and prioritize defects and edge-case issues.

• Conduct root-cause analysis on test failures and collaborate with engineering teams on remediation efforts.

• Create test execution reports, quality summary dashboards, and traceability matrices.

• Mentor automation engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, framework guidance, and knowledge transfer.

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, technical design discussions, and cross-functional SDLC collaboration.

• Research and recommend automation tools, technologies, framework enhancements, process improvements, and continuous quality advancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Seven (7) years of experience in designing, developing, and executing automated test solutions for large-scale enterprise applications.

• Five (5) years of experience in developing automation frameworks using Java and Selenium or similar automation technologies.

• Five (5) years of experience in designing, developing, or significantly enhancing automation frameworks utilizing object-oriented design principles and reusable architecture.

• Three (3) years of experience in integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins.

• Five (5) years of experience in writing SQL queries and performing database validation to support automated testing.

• Proficiency in automation tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or similar.

• Expertise in automated API testing using Postman, RestAssured, or SoapUI.

• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented or scripting language relevant to automation, such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.

• Hands-on experience with Atlassian Jira, Azure DevOps (ADO), or Quality Center/ALM.

• Practical knowledge of integrating automated tests into build/deployment pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure Pipelines.

• Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and BDD/TDD methodologies using frameworks like Cucumber or Behave.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Desired: experience as an Automation Architect, Principal QA Automation Engineer, Automation Framework Lead, or Senior Automation Consultant.

• Desired: experience providing technical guidance, mentoring automation engineers, and conducting automation code reviews.

• Desired: experience modernizing mature or legacy automation frameworks.

• Desired: experience in designing automation frameworks from the ground up.

• Desired: experience in supporting large, complex, mission-critical enterprise applications.

• Desired: experience collaborating with developers, solution architects, DevOps engineers, and business analysts.

• Desired: experience using IBM ETM, IBM QM, IBM CLM, or comparable enterprise test management tools.

• Desired: experience automating web applications, REST APIs, and database validation.

• Desired: experience with performance testing tools or initiatives.

• Desired: experience working within Agile/Scrum DevOps teams.
