Senior Python Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement new features for decoupled backend services.

• Maintain, enhance, and refactor existing backend applications to boost scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Analyze and optimize application performance, database queries, and overall system efficiency.

• Take ownership of backend services throughout their lifecycle, including architecture, deployment, production support, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

• Engage in technical design discussions, solution architecture, and project planning sessions.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.

• Review code, offer constructive feedback, and advocate for engineering best practices.

• Mentor and support team members by sharing technical knowledge and assisting with complex engineering challenges.

• Troubleshoot production issues using profiling, monitoring, logging, and diagnostic tools.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and design specifications.

• Assess emerging technologies and suggest enhancements to the engineering stack.

• Utilize AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Codex to expedite development while ensuring quality, correctness, security, and maintainability.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in developing backend applications using Python.

• Extensive commercial experience in building web applications with Django and the Django ORM.

• Strong experience working with relational databases, particularly MySQL.

• Proficiency in designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs, GraphQL, or similar service interfaces.

• Familiarity with distributed systems and asynchronous messaging technologies such as Celery.

• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, clean architecture, and distributed system design.

• Experience utilizing Git-based version control workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.

• Proven ability to write technical documentation and software design specifications.

• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills using profiling tools, SQL execution plans, and application monitoring tools like New Relic.

• Capability to work independently, take ownership of technical solutions, prioritize tasks effectively, and proactively resolve issues.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage in technical discussions and mentor other engineers.

• Preferred: experience with Redis, Memcached, Elasticsearch, and Celery.

• Preferred: experience in building, deploying, and operating cloud-native or highly scalable backend services.

• Preferred: experience within Agile/Scrum development environments.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Codex.

• Preferred: experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers and contributing to engineering standards and best practices.
