Senior Java Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable production backend services for the Logistics Courier Pay Network.

• Design and oversee services that support the courier network.

• Take full ownership of backend systems, encompassing data modeling, event flows, deployment, and production operations.

• Contribute to the design of an event-driven architecture.

• Provide robust, high-performance, and observable backend services.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver logistics features.

• Advocate for modern backend methodologies and mentor colleagues.

• Influence backend engineering practices and distributed services at scale.

• Utilize event-driven architectures, pub/sub, asynchronous processing, idempotency, Domain Driven Design, bounded contexts, sagas, eventual consistency, and the outbox pattern.

• Manage database schema design, query optimization, migrations, observability, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, and performance/load testing.

• Leverage AI agents for automated pull requests, debugging, code generation, refactoring, and code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and operating scalable production backend services.

• Strong expertise in Java, Quarkus, Spring Boot, or comparable JVM frameworks.

• Extensive experience with event-driven architectures, such as Kafka, SQS, and SNS.

• Solid understanding of Domain Driven Design (DDD) patterns for distributed systems.

• Practical experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, including Aurora RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.

• Experience deploying in production environments on AWS/Azure using Kubernetes (EKS).

• Proficient with Datadog, RESTful API design, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform/CloudFormation, and automated performance/load testing frameworks.

• Genuine interest in AI-assisted development and agentic engineering, including tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.

• A collaborative approach with experience across Agile software development cycles.

• A satisfactory background check is required as a condition of employment.
