Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Become a part of the Tendem project and lead specialized data scraping operations for practical real-world applications.

• Take ownership of comprehensive data extraction processes across intricate websites.

• Provide precise, dependable, and structured datasets with thorough coverage.

• Utilize tools and customized workflows to enhance data collection, validation, and task execution.

• Retrieve data from dynamic and interactive web sources, including content rendered by JavaScript.

• Modify scraping techniques in response to site behavior changes and minor structural adjustments.

• Ensure data quality through validation checks, consistency controls across sources, formatting specifications, and systematic verification.

• Expand scraping operations for large datasets using effective batching or parallel processing.

• Monitor failures and ensure the stability of scraping processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical fields is advantageous.

• Extensive experience in Python web scraping, including tools such as BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or similar, as well as dynamic content and APIs via proxies.

• Proven capability to extract data from complex structures, including hierarchies, archived pages, and inconsistent HTML formats.

• Strong foundation in data cleaning, normalization, and validation, with a track record of delivering structured datasets in formats like CSV, JSON, or Google Sheets.

• Demonstrated experience in managing anti-bot mechanisms and dynamic site structures at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or similar, and containerization using Docker.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks like LangChain, OpenRouter, or similar, applied to automation tasks.

• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy.

• Self-motivated work ethic with the ability to troubleshoot independently.

• Proficiency in English: Upper-intermediate (B2) or higher.

• A link to GitHub is a plus.
