Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

• Take ownership of comprehensive data extraction processes across intricate websites.

• Guarantee thorough coverage, precision, and dependable delivery of structured datasets.

• Leverage tools and tailored workflows to expedite data gathering, validation, and task execution.

• Extract information from dynamic and interactive online sources, including content rendered by JavaScript.

• Modify scraping techniques in response to evolving site behaviors and structures.

• Uphold data quality through validation checks, consistency controls across sources, formatting adherence, and systematic verification.

• Scale scraping operations for extensive datasets utilizing efficient batching or parallel processing.

• Monitor failures and maintain operational stability amid minor changes in site structure.

• Utilize tools such as Apify, OpenRouter, and other relevant technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years of pertinent experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development (mandatory).

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or other related technical disciplines is advantageous.

• Extensive experience with Python web scraping (BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or similar), including dynamic content (JavaScript, AJAX, infinite scroll) and APIs using proxies.

• Proven capability to extract data from intricate structures (hierarchies, archived pages, inconsistent HTML).

• Strong foundation in data cleaning, normalization, and validation, producing structured datasets (CSV, JSON, Google Sheets).

• Demonstrated experience managing anti-bot mechanisms and dynamic site architectures at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) and containerization (Docker) as integral to real workflows.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenRouter, or equivalent) applied to automation tasks.

• Excellent attention to detail and dedication to data accuracy.

• Self-motivated work ethic with the ability to troubleshoot independently.

• A link to a GitHub profile is a plus.

• Proficiency in English: Upper-intermediate (B2) or higher (required).
