Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

• Take ownership of comprehensive data extraction workflows across intricate websites.

• Guarantee thorough coverage, precision, and dependable delivery of structured datasets.

• Utilize available tools and customized workflows to enhance data collection, validation, and task execution.

• Consistently extract data from dynamic and interactive web sources, including content rendered by JavaScript.

• Modify scraping techniques in response to changes in site behavior.

• Maintain data quality through validation checks, cross-source consistency controls, formatting standards, and systematic verification processes.

• Scale scraping operations for extensive datasets by employing efficient batching or parallelization methods.

• Monitor failures and uphold stability against minor alterations in site structure.

• Leverage tools like Apify, OpenRouter, and other technologies, complemented by technical expertise.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development (mandatory).

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical disciplines is advantageous.

• Extensive experience in Python web scraping, including tools such as BeautifulSoup, Selenium or similar, as well as handling dynamic content (JS, AJAX, infinite scroll) and APIs via proxies.

• Established ability to extract data from complex structures, including hierarchies, archived pages, and inconsistent HTML.

• Robust background in data cleaning, normalization, and validation.

• Experience in managing anti-bot mechanisms and dynamic site structures at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, such as AWS or equivalent, and containerization using Docker.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks, such as LangChain or OpenRouter, applied to automation tasks.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.

• Self-motivated work ethic and capability to troubleshoot independently.

• Proficiency in English at the Upper-intermediate (B2) level or higher (required).

• A GitHub link is considered a plus.
