
Senior Protection & Control Engineer β Power & Utilities

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +13 more states.
β’ Lead or assist in the detailed design of Protection & Control for both greenfield and brownfield substation projects.
β’ Create comprehensive and precise P&C design deliverables, which include one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, cable schedules, control logic, and I/O mapping.
β’ Specify and implement protection relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB) along with their associated settings.
β’ Ensure compliance with relevant industry and utility standards (IEEE, NESC, and specific client guidelines).
β’ Collaborate closely with SCADA/RTU, communications, physical, and civil design teams.
β’ Conduct drawing QA/QC and provide mentorship to junior P&C designers and engineers.
β’ Engage with clients, relay settings engineers, and field teams during design reviews and construction phases.
β’ Offer technical assistance for relay testing, FAT/SAT, and substation energization as necessary.
β’ Over 7 years of professional experience in substation protection and control design for utilities, EPCs, or engineering firms.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
β’ A valid Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) license.
β’ Expertise in creating protection one-lines, AC/DC schematics, and panel wiring diagrams.
β’ Experience with protection relay applications, particularly SEL (351, 451, 735, 487).
β’ Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software.
β’ Strong knowledge of control schemes, relay logic, and SCADA integration.
β’ Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, NESC, and utility-specific requirements).
