Senior Cloud DBA Engineer – PostgreSQL, AWS RDS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Deploy, manage, and sustain NICE's globally hosted customer databases.

• Address customer concerns that necessitate direct access to database infrastructure.

• Oversee the AWS console.

• Execute new deployments for databases and RDS services.

• Conduct health and availability assessments of AWS RDS databases using CloudWatch and Performance Insights.

• Review and interpret database logs and error logs.

• Set up alerts, monitor them, and adjust thresholds as needed.

• Execute RDS instance operations and compare configurations against Terraform code.

• Export/import data from PostgreSQL and manage SQL Server backup/restore tasks.

• Install and deploy databases, configuring backups, maintenance jobs, and other functionalities supporting capacity, performance, and product operations.

• Carry out database administration tasks across various database versions.

• Restore data, install or remove patch sets/service packs, and manage edition upgrades and downgrades.

• Troubleshoot locking and corruption issues, implementing solutions with minimal downtime.

• Perform operational tasks including database backups, application server health checks, and service recycling.

• Identify and resolve operational challenges such as batch failures, network issues, and client data feed errors.

• Monitor server performance, memory usage, CPU, file systems, databases, batch jobs, and backup/restore processes.

• Prepare, review, test, and execute T-SQL and PowerShell scripts for database management.

• Investigate performance challenges and implement tuning solutions.

• Create and update documentation, share knowledge, and assist global team members.

• Utilize monitoring tools.

• Provide 24x7 production SaaS infrastructure support, including on-call and after-hours/weekend assistance.

• Report to the Manager of Infrastructure Cloud Operations and collaborate with the Database Team overseeing AWS Cloud databases.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6 to 10 years of experience as a DBA managing various database engines.

• A minimum of 6 years of relevant DBA experience is required.

• Hands-on experience with multiple versions of PostgreSQL is essential.

• Knowledge or experience with Microsoft SQL, Aurora, and MySQL is a plus.

• Practical experience with AWS Cloud and AWS RDS is necessary.

• Basic coding abilities in PowerShell, Python, and Terraform.

• Understanding of automated AWS backups, historical backup timings, and ad-hoc snapshots.

• Familiarity with ITIL principles, including incidents, service requests, and change management.

• Willingness to learn about database and backup infrastructure technologies, including storage, backup, operating systems, automation tools, cloud solutions, and other database technologies.

• Capability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships in a global, diverse, multicultural environment.

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

• Ability to provide 24x7 production SaaS infrastructure support, including on-call and after-hours/weekend assistance.

• Must be able to work remotely from Colombia.
