Senior Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance web applications, services, scripts, and automation solutions utilizing Python.

• Create backend services using Python along with Node.js/Express.js.

• Provide support for frontend applications using Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Assist in application builds, deployments, configuration management, and release activities via Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

• Troubleshoot application and integration issues by analyzing application logs, stack traces, SQL queries, HTTP responses, system logs, and operating system tools.

• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Database, Security, Networking, Integration, and other IT teams to address complex technical challenges.

• Work alongside business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and convert them into technical solutions.

• Adhere to organizational standards for security, privacy, change management, coding, and application development.

• Engage in code reviews, testing, quality assurance, and production support activities.

• Incorporate generative AI/LLM functionalities into applications and workflows, including LLM APIs, RAG, vector databases, and AI-assisted automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent relevant certification in programming, Computer Science, healthcare, business management, or information systems.

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, with significant hands-on expertise in developing applications using Python.

• Strong familiarity with Python frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, or similar alternatives.

• Proficient in developing web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS; experience in Angular is highly preferred.

• Background in backend development using Node.js/Express.js and/or Python-based web frameworks.

• Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines or other DevOps platforms and application deployment methods.

• Proficient in Git, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and software development lifecycle practices.

• Experience in integrating REST APIs and web services, particularly with respect to authentication, request/response handling, error management, logging, and data validation.

• At least two years of experience in technical documentation writing.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with both business and technical team members.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal abilities.

• Ability to multitask effectively; must be a self-starter with a proactive approach to delivering results independently.

• Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.

• Expertise in the programming languages/tools relevant to the position.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization technologies.

• Knowledge of generative AI/LLM application development, including RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, or AI workflow automation.

• Experience with Epic/Clarity or healthcare data environments.
