This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and maintain intricate software systems.
• Produce high-quality code for complex scenarios with comprehensive test coverage.
• Convert product requirements into robust, modular, configurable, reusable, secure, scalable, and maintainable distributed application systems.
• Oversee design and code reviews across various applications.
• Guide sprint teams to introduce new or enhanced features.
• Resolve impediments to delivering high-quality solutions within the sprint backlog.
• Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to achieve desired functionality.
• Mentor and provide technical support to engineers.
• Propel technical strategy and vision for the team.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence within Mercury engineering.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software programming.
• 2+ years of experience with technologies utilized at Mercury.
• Over 1 year of experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Proficient in one or more industry-standard programming languages, including Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, design patterns, relational databases, NoSQL, and caching solutions.
• Experience with REST and gRPC APIs.
• Proficient in message queuing, data streaming, workflow, and integration frameworks.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient in DevSecOps practices.
• Experience in designing and implementing distributed application systems.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Proven leadership skills through mentoring and providing technical guidance.
• Experience in driving technical strategy and vision for a team.
• Preferred: 6 or more years of experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter configurations and integrations.
• Preferred: 4 or more years of experience with Java/J2EE.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with Kafka, AWS, S3, Drools, Blaze, etc.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with Personal lines products.
• Preferred: 1 or more years of experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GUnit.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
