Senior Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve intricate issues within Sharetec's legacy Progress ABL codebase and unconventional program structures.

• Decompose large, complex problems into manageable parts to identify the root cause.

• Manage cases through to complete resolution, escalating to other departments as necessary.

• Independently restore systems when they fail, understanding when and how to escalate issues.

• Close an average of 10–12+ cases weekly and resolve them within established SLAs.

• Assist colleagues with case loads and troubleshooting as required.

• Clearly communicate with the team and broader organization regarding case status and technical challenges.

• Participate in the regular after-hours on-call rotation.

• Maintain and enhance fluency in Progress ABL, Progress databases, and related infrastructure.

• Work with Progress databases, Linux servers, and ISO 8583 communication systems.

• Support dependable core banking and lending software systems for credit unions.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience or certification in programming, software engineering, IT, or database administration.

• Capability to work with legacy code bases and non-traditional program structures.

• Experience in Progress ABL, SQL, or a comparable language.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex issues and deconstructing large problems.

• Effective communication skills within the team and across the wider organization.

• Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.

• Preferred: experience in managing Progress databases.

• Preferred: experience in managing Linux servers and resolving performance issues.

• Preferred: knowledge of C#, TypeScript, or Angular.

• Preferred: experience with ISO 8583 communication systems.

• Preferred: knowledge or experience in financial services.
