This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop, enhance, and implement earned media strategies.
• Establish and expand WorkMoney’s internal earned media processes, tools, materials, and infrastructure.
• Convert organizational priorities, campaigns, and programmatic initiatives into clear external messaging and narratives.
• Create media strategies and pitches for significant campaigns, key organizational events, and spokespersons.
• Identify and act upon timely media opportunities, emerging trends, and external events.
• Formulate rapid-response messaging and communication strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Cultivate and strengthen relationships with journalists and influential figures in digital and emerging media.
• Explore opportunities across podcasts, newsletters, Substacks, and other new platforms.
• Prepare and coach spokespersons for media interactions, including messaging, talking points, and briefing documents.
• Function as a strategic communications partner for teams throughout WorkMoney, Inc.
• Oversee communications consultants and external partners, managing deliverables and promoting earned media objectives.
• Uphold evergreen brand language and core organizational messaging.
• Evaluate and monitor earned media initiatives using both qualitative and quantitative insights.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in communications, particularly in earned media, media relations, public relations, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement proactive and reactive earned media strategies.
• Strong connections with journalists, media professionals, and influential figures across traditional, digital, and emerging media.
• Exceptional skills in writing, messaging, and storytelling.
• Capability to distill complex information into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences and channels.
• Proficient in transitioning between strategic planning and hands-on execution.
• Strong judgment in managing sensitive, high-profile, or rapidly evolving communication scenarios.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration and building trusted relationships with stakeholders.
• Background in managing staff, external communications consultants, agencies, or other partners.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple priorities, foresee needs, solve issues, and deliver superior work.
• Proficient with media relations, monitoring, and distribution tools such as MuckRack, Cision, PR Newswire, or similar platforms.
