Senior Professional Services Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Execute GitLab Professional Services engagements, which encompass installation, migration, training, and advisory services.

• Strategically plan and implement deployments, from single-node Omnibus installations to extensive reference architectures utilizing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code.

• Spearhead migrations from various source systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed GitLab.

• Assist customers in adopting secure and dependable workflows.

• Collaborate with Engagement Managers and Project Managers to enhance delivery consistency and refine processes.

• Act as a trusted technical advisor, converting customer objectives and limitations into actionable implementation plans and subsequent steps.

• Connect with GitLab product and engineering teams to resolve customer challenges and relay feedback.

• Provide mentorship to Associate and Intermediate Professional Services Engineers.

• Oversee multiple customer engagements as the primary engineer or lead, offering guidance and direction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional experience with one or more Infrastructure as Code or Configuration as Code technologies, including Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, Chef, or Kubernetes.

• Professional experience with at least two cloud service providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with using, deploying, or configuring GitLab, along with a solid understanding of Git and source control workflows.

• A strong foundation in Security / AI technologies.

• Experience in delivering customer-facing services, such as installation, migration, training, and advisory engagements across GitLab's feature set.

• Proven capability to manage one or more projects independently and to lead and guide other Professional Services Engineers on complex engagements.

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

• Ability to provide clear status updates and achieve consensus with peers and customers in a predominantly remote, asynchronous environment.

• Skilled at identifying root causes, proposing options and tradeoffs, and driving issues to resolution while managing multiple customer engagements.

• Ability to operate effectively in a fully remote organization by communicating clearly in writing, documenting decisions, collaborating asynchronously across time zones, and consistently aligning with GitLab's values.
