Senior Process Controls Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Oversee the development and implementation of chemical refining methods.

• Create software for capital project execution and the automation of plant optimization.

• Guide the infrastructure and programming scopes for equipment and plant-wide controls from initial concept through design, installation, commissioning, ramp-up, and transition to operations.

• Assist in the creation of an in-house engineering team.

• Establish standards for controls programming.

• Lead equipment scopes through modeling validation, procurement, engineering, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up.

• Manage relationships with external equipment vendors, technology licensors, and engineering firms.

• Facilitate cross-functional teams to enhance equipment scalability and mitigate risks associated with the commercialization of innovative mineral refining processes.

• Aid in the recruitment, mentorship, and daily management of junior process engineers.

• Develop technoeconomic models for potential projects, acquisition targets, and emerging technologies.

• Prepare and deliver bankable engineering documentation for project financing due diligence.

• Identify, assess, and implement software tools for process engineering and project management.

• Support the automation of capital project workflows and advanced plant control algorithms through software and machine learning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong grasp of engineering principles and the capability to address complex issues.

• Experience in equipment engineering and design.

• Background in brownfield equipment modifications and upgrades.

• Familiarity with greenfield equipment design.

• Experience in evaluating and optimizing operational equipment.

• Background in industrial manufacturing, large-scale mining or mineral processing, large-scale chemical production processes, or within engineering, procurement, and construction firms.

• Experience in leading engineers and technicians, either directly or indirectly.

• Proven track record in managing and executing medium to large-scale capital projects exceeding $5 million.
