Mechanical Engineer – Fleet Reliability and Operations, Hydroelectric Industry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform site visits to evaluate the condition of existing turbines and/or generators.

• Oversee signature tests on units prior to their disassembly at the site.

• Engage in daily conference calls with site teams to address inquiries and foresee potential issues.

• Offer additional work recommendations following the disassembly and inspection of current components.

• Assess and approve site record documentation.

• Address non-conformities and general concerns.

• Conduct site visits during critical phases of the project.

• Assist during commissioning and testing stages.

• Resolve issues that arise during warranty periods.

• Provide insights from experience to the design team.

• Act as the primary site contact for operation and maintenance contracts.

• Design and prepare documentation related to service projects.

• Assist customers with condition assessments, spare parts, refurbishment of parts, and partial unit refurbishments.

• Collaborate within GE Vernova's Hydro division Fleet Reliability & Operation team on hydro turbine and generator rehabilitation and new initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in the hydro industry.

• Willingness and capability to travel across North America and internationally.

• Ability to work remotely as part of a team and communicate effectively.

• Must pass pre-employment screening, including reference checks and background investigations.

• Must have unrestricted work authorization in the USA.

• Familiarity with Hydro Turbine and Generator design and erection methods.

• Understanding of calculation methods related to material strength, finite element analysis, metallurgy, and welding techniques.

• PE license is preferred.
