This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.
• Take ownership of competitive pricing data and methodologies; convert competitive analysis into actionable pricing strategies.
• Conduct price point evaluations and propose recommendations for modifications in price architecture, focusing on margin impact, elasticity, price gaps, and historical performance.
• Assess promotional incrementality and margin effects; suggest which offers should be continued, altered, or discontinued.
• Model scenarios for markdown depth and timing; track sell-through rates and margin recovery, providing recommendations for corrective measures.
• Create and maintain tools for pricing scenarios that quantify the impact on P&L.
• Design, manage, and enhance pricing dashboards and performance reports.
• Establish and uphold standards for pricing data integrity and ensure reliable data lineage.
• Automate routine analyses and decrease manual workload through self-service reporting solutions.
• Define, organize, deliver, and present intricate ad hoc analyses for Merchants, Finance, and executive leadership.
• Oversee the execution of price changes, ensuring accuracy across different systems and channels, while addressing root-cause exceptions.
• Maintain comprehensive and auditable pricing governance documentation along with change history records.
• Collaborate with Merchants, Merchandise Finance, and Marketing for cross-functional planning initiatives.
• Establish methodology and quality assurance standards, reviewing the work of less experienced analysts.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• 4–7 years of analytical experience, showcasing expertise in retail pricing, merchandising, planning, or finance.
• Advanced skills in Excel, including scenario modeling, handling large datasets, and developing tools that others depend on.
• Proficiency in SQL, with the capability to independently source, join, and validate data across various systems.
• Strong understanding of retail margin mechanics and the factors that influence gross margin performance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
• Proven ability to work independently in uncertain environments and to mentor less experienced analysts.
• Expertise in Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools, particularly in dashboard design (preferred).
• Experience in furniture, home, or big-ticket retail sectors (preferred).
• Familiarity with pricing, promotion, or markdown optimization tools (preferred).
• Knowledge of elasticity modeling (preferred).
