Senior Power BI Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable Power BI data models that are optimized for enterprise-level performance.

• Write advanced DAX code and enhance Power Query transformations for optimal performance.

• Implement row-level security, manage workspace governance, and set up Dev/Test/Prod deployment pipelines.

• Configure gateways, dataflows, incremental refresh, and integrate with enterprise data platforms.

• Create paginated reports, embedded analytics, and facilitate Power Platform integrations.

• Establish standards for data governance, naming conventions, and documentation of the semantic model.

• Diagnose performance issues using tools such as Performance Analyzer, DAX Studio, and Tabular Editor.

• Apply principles of data visualization and information design to reporting outputs.

• Design narrative dashboards with thoughtful layouts and drill paths.

• Ensure that deliverables are accessible to all users.

• Develop and maintain JSON themes, typography, spacing, and branded BI templates.

• Conduct usability reviews and iterate based on user behaviors and feedback.

• Map user journeys and lead discovery workshops for project insights.

• Translate business requests into key performance indicators (KPIs), data sources, and success metrics.

• Create wireframes and mockups prior to development phases.

• Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions and office hours to encourage adoption.

• Define and monitor metrics related to report adoption and usage.

• Advise client stakeholders and convey technical concepts in a way that highlights business value.

• Lead or assist in the development of proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), and project estimations.

• Present findings and design rationale effectively in client-facing environments.

• Mentor junior developers and analysts for professional growth.

• Contribute to the development of internal BI accelerators, templates, and reusable frameworks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Power BI development, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.

• Proficient in DAX and Power Query (M), with expert-level skills.

• Strong foundation in data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling, star schema, and the trade-offs of normalization.

• Proven experience in designing dashboards with a focus on user experience (UX) and user interface (UI).

• Demonstrated capability to independently conduct stakeholder workshops and gather requirements.

• Strong SQL proficiency.

• Familiarity with at least one enterprise data platform, such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or SQL Server.

• Experience in consulting or client-facing delivery roles.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Comfortable presenting to senior leadership audiences.
