Senior Data Engineer, Business Intelligence

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and maintain enterprise Data Lake solutions from inception.

• Create scalable ETL solutions and data pipelines.

• Efficiently transfer and process terabytes of data.

• Establish processes for data quality, data governance, metadata, and lineage.

• Develop capabilities for anomaly detection, monitoring, and alerting.

• Provide technical guidance on intricate data and analytics projects.

• Mentor colleagues and carry out code and design evaluations.

• Contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

• Support production-level data and analytics platforms, including troubleshooting and performance enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and proven technical skills.

• Over 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence Engineering, or a related field.

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and building enterprise Data Lakes, Lakehouses, or analytical data platforms.

• Strong background in developing enterprise ETL/ELT solutions and scalable data pipelines.

• Proficiency with Oracle Database, Debezium, Kafka, Kafka Connect, Apache Flink, Apache Iceberg, Nessie, StarRocks, Spark, Kyuubi, and Power BI.

• Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC), event-driven architectures, real-time data processing, data cataloging, schema evolution, data versioning, and enterprise-scale ETL/ELT solutions.

• Hands-on experience in supporting large-scale data ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, backfill processes, and distributed analytics platforms.

• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices utilizing Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana.

• Strong experience in supporting production Linux environments, covering system administration, systemd-managed services, performance tuning, automation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.

• Advanced skills in SQL development, data modeling, and performance tuning.

• Experience with dimensional modeling, semantic-layer design, and analytical data structures.

• Proven ability in processing and managing large-scale data environments.

• Practical experience in implementing data quality, reconciliation, monitoring, and observability frameworks.

• Knowledge of metadata management, data lineage, governance, and data cataloging practices.

• Experience in implementing monitoring, alerting, anomaly detection, and operational support processes.

• Background in supporting enterprise reporting, self-service analytics, and business intelligence solutions.

• Ability to ensure platforms comply with requirements for managing PII, customer data, confidential business information, and regulated data.

• Capability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, conduct code and design reviews, and contribute to engineering standards.

• Current, valid passport and legal eligibility for international travel, including necessary travel visas or passport-based visa exemptions for Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean.
