Data Engineer – BI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain semantic data models, metrics layers, and certified datasets.

• Define, standardize, and oversee KPIs, calculation methodologies, and a shared metric glossary.

• Create, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports using Sigma, Power BI, and native Databricks dashboards/AI-BI Genie.

• Establish and uphold Sigma workspace standards, workbook templates, certified datasets, row-level security configurations, and governance protocols.

• Partner with Architecture on data quality, testing, and observability initiatives.

• Manage the triage and resolution of BI-layer and dashboard challenges.

• Promote BI adoption through training and support for business users.

• Track dashboard usage and pinpoint assets for redesign, training, or decommissioning.

• Safeguard data security and compliance through role-based access controls, encryption, masking, and governance practices.

• Collect reporting and analytics requirements and convert them into technical specifications and data products.

• Facilitate analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases through data models, feature accessibility, and platform integrations like Databricks Vector Search and Model Serving.

• Collaborate within an Agile-Scrum environment and produce technical design documentation.

• Construct and maintain production dashboards and workbooks in Sigma.

• Implement row-level security and Entra ID-based access controls.

• Work with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to align priorities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3+ years of practical experience in data engineering and/or business intelligence.

• Proficiency in Databricks, including DAB and Materialized Views.

• 3+ years of experience in designing semantic/dimensional data models and creating dashboards and reports on a modern BI platform.

• Hands-on experience with a metrics or semantic layer.

• 3+ years of analytical SQL experience (ANSI SQL/T-SQL/Spark SQL) and Python for data engineering, covering pipeline development, transformation logic, and automation.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Experience with HIPAA compliant datasets is a plus.

• Master’s degree is preferred.

• Knowledge of GitHub CoPilot is an advantage.

• Preference will be given to candidates from the East Coast.
