Senior Platform Engineer – Azure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design of key components for a contemporary digital service platform, which encompasses automation, build, deployment, and support.

• Collaborate with engineering, testing, consulting, product management, and security teams to develop, test, and deploy high-quality software.

• Choose and implement suitable technologies that adhere to industry standards and best practices.

• Foster an inclusive DevOps culture.

• Lead technical discussions and decisions to guarantee that services are scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performing.

• Maintain services during live operations and strive for continuous enhancements in availability, security, and performance.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members.

• Cultivate specializations and explore career paths through exposure to emerging technologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated strong teamwork abilities, particularly within a multi-disciplinary team.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Substantial expertise in utilizing various configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and automation tools.

• Proficiency in at least one of the following: Powershell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Groovy.

• Experience in designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring, and supporting significant components of modern digital service platforms in production environments.

• Proven track record of creating scalable, resilient, efficient, secure, and cost-effective designs that minimize vendor lock-in.

• Experience in influencing technical decisions and direction, including architecture, estimation, product planning, user story/requirement development, and advocating for MVP.

• Familiarity with implementing modern Continuous Delivery processes for production releases.

• Knowledge of applying industry best practices and patterns across infrastructure and application components, focusing on security, elasticity, and performance.

• Experience using AWS public cloud platforms to address business challenges.

• Familiarity with configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and container orchestration tools.

• Proficient in modern version control systems, including Git.

• Ability to debug complex issues across multiple servers, services, and tools.

• Active Security Clearance is required.

• A third-level or equivalent qualification in a related field is desirable.

• Mid-level certification with a public cloud provider (Azure) is preferable.

• Experience with cloud-native SaaS and PaaS technologies is advantageous.

• Previous experience managing, mentoring, and coaching junior staff is desirable.
