Senior Payroll Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Process payroll for a designated portfolio of clients.

• Collaborate directly with clients to address payroll-related needs.

• Navigate multiple payroll and HR technology platforms.

• Identify payroll practices that pose risks to clients and assist in rectifying them.

• Act as the primary payroll information contact during audits, benefits census requests, and workers’ compensation reviews.

• Oversee payroll compliance, encompassing year-end tasks and state-specific requirements.

• Support the administration of employee benefits, reporting, and payroll setup.

• Lead payroll implementations, transitions, and other significant projects.

• Create custom payroll reports and perform payroll audits.

• Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for the team.

• Coach and mentor fellow Payroll Specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of payroll experience working independently.

• Strong multi-state payroll experience.

• Experience with California or New York payroll is advantageous.

• Comfortable engaging in difficult conversations.

• Passion for helping teammates grow and aspiring to take on a leadership role.

• Client-facing experience is preferred, though flexibility is available for strong candidates.

• Must reside within the Eastern or Central time zones.

• Proficient in MS Office.

• Experience with payroll platforms; especially beneficial to have knowledge of ADP, Paylocity, and Workday.

• Ability to foster relationships and adapt communication styles across a diverse client base.
