This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the operational logistics for a payroll tax function catering to over 23,000 employees across 30 different company entities.

• Enhance operational stability in a high-demand setting through informed decision-making, risk-based prioritization, and efficient execution.

• Supervise the execution of employment tax compliance initiatives within People Operations.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment tax regulations via audit controls within the payroll platform and its integrations.

• Handle and resolve queries from employees.

• Address inquiries from tax authorities with an emphasis on promptness and risk prioritization.

• Collaborate with internal tax, payroll, and compliance teams regarding employment tax audits and settlements.

• Create and apply best practices for employment tax compliance activities throughout the region.

• Offer operational guidance and support to payroll vendor teams, including training on pay input parameters.

• Work closely with Finance, Legal, HR, and other internal departments to integrate employment tax compliance into People Operations.

• Design, implement, and monitor key metrics related to operational health, risk, and compliance performance.

• Identify and promote continuous process enhancements using LEAN methodology and other efficiency frameworks.

• Maintain precision, punctuality, and quality in alignment with legal and tax policy requirements.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in employment tax compliance in Canada and the USA.

• Extensive previous professional experience demonstrating a solid understanding of employment tax processes, regulatory compliance, and/or an operations/service-oriented environment.

• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

• Strong knowledge of employment tax regulations.

• Payroll Certification is preferred.

• Experience with employment tax in the United States and Canada is preferred.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and adjust to evolving business requirements and regulatory landscapes.

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organizational levels.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with HR systems such as Workday and associated technologies.
