This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the technical expert for payroll and timekeeping systems.

• Oversee the design, configuration, maintenance, and testing of payroll systems, including earnings, deductions, pay components, interfaces, and compensation programs.

• Manage technical projects related to system upgrades, implementations, integrations, and new functionalities, which involve requirements analysis, testing, validation, documentation, issue resolution, and deployment support.

• Create, develop, and sustain intricate payroll and workforce reports utilizing calculated fields, advanced formulas, pay component groupings, and reporting tools.

• Assist with biweekly payroll operations and ensure business continuity.

• Address payroll issues, verify calculations, audit payroll results, and support payroll tax, quarterly, year-end, W-2, and regulatory reporting.

• Track system performance and integrity through auditing, reconciliation, validation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

• Discover and implement internal controls, automation, efficiency enhancements, and sustainable process improvements.

• Document and standardize payroll and timekeeping workflows, procedures, and internal controls.

• Collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and operational leaders on payroll initiatives and system improvements.

• Analyze payroll, workforce, and timekeeping data to detect trends, compliance risks, labor cost drivers, and operational challenges.

• Create and present training sessions, job aids, and educational resources for staff, leaders, and end users.

• Mentor and provide technical support to Payroll and Timekeeping personnel.

• Assist the Payroll & Timekeeping Manager with operational planning, strategic initiatives, and departmental projects.

• Stay informed about payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, payroll tax obligations, collective bargaining agreements, and organizational policies.

• Uphold the organizational vision, mission, values, Lean continuous improvement principles, safety, confidentiality, and compliance standards.

• Execute additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field is required; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

• A minimum of five (5) years of progressive payroll experience involving analytical and technical functions.

• Proficient in supporting payroll processing, reporting, system configuration, and compliance activities.

• Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems in an analytical or systems-support role.

• Must reside in, or intend to relocate to, an approved state: Oregon, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, or Wisconsin.

• Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

• Capable of organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

• Ability to interpret data and recognize trends or inconsistencies.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Strong customer service orientation and responsiveness.

• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, systems, and workflows.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to build consensus and facilitate agreement among stakeholders.

• Intermediate to advanced skills in computer applications and Microsoft Office.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis tools, and reporting functions.

• Ability to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
