This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise the third-party provider tasked with payroll processing and payroll tax filing services.
• Set performance standards, monitor service levels, manage issue resolution, validate payroll and tax outputs, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of Workday payroll data.
• Oversee biweekly and semimonthly payroll processing for roughly 450 employees.
• Gather and assess payroll inputs along with supporting documentation, process adjustments, and confirm final payroll outcomes.
• Act as the subject matter expert on Workday Payroll.
• Direct payroll-related configuration activities with HRIS, which includes earnings and deduction codes and calculation rules.
• Define requirements, evaluate payroll implications, maintain configuration and change-control documentation, conduct testing, and facilitate reviews and approvals.
• Collaborate with HR, HRIS, and Finance to pinpoint, prioritize, and resolve payroll concerns.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective measures; monitor issues until resolved.
• Execute regular payroll audits and reconciliations of earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
• Stay informed on federal, state, and local payroll regulations and manage updates to processes, controls, and configurations.
• Address employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and taxes; resolve escalated or complex matters.
• Develop and sustain payroll procedures, controls, job aids, and documentation.
• Candidates must already possess legal authorization to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship, assumption of sponsorship, and other immigration assistance are not provided.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least five (5) years of experience in full cycle payroll processing.
• Capability to independently manage and execute end-to-end payroll operations in a streamlined, fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency in prioritizing competing responsibilities, handling multiple deadlines, and delivering precise outcomes.
• A minimum of three (3) years of practical Workday Payroll experience, including system maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Ability to foster partnerships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Preferred: experience in supervising a third-party payroll and tax services provider.
• Preferred: Workday Payroll configuration experience, including earnings and deduction codes, calculation rules, business processes, and relevant payroll integrations.
• Preferred: experience with multi-state payroll tax filings, agency notices, registrations, and year-end reporting.
• Preferred: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
