Senior Overhead Transmission Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and engineer high-voltage transmission line projects up to 500kV.

• Prepare, guide, or assist with engineering deliverables such as line routing, structure selection and design, plan and profile drawings, hardware and conductor selection, equipment and construction specifications, as well as calculations.

• Coordinate overall design packages and requirements with members of the engineering and design teams.

• Create technical specifications and provide guidance to drafters and designers.

• Oversee drafting and designer activities, ensuring adherence to design schedules.

• Provide regular updates on project status to project engineers.

• Manage multiple projects, delivering comprehensive design packages that comply with engineering standards and safety codes.

• Lead collaborative teams to clarify scope, prepare deliverables, and provide project updates.

• Generate design criteria, reports, design verifications, and clearance tables for PLS-CADD.

• Construct and modify pole and tower models for PLS-CADD design.

• Develop construction assembly drawings, material selections, and structure loading packages for vendor submissions.

• Create construction specification packages, including drawings, one-lines, phasing, and standard installation specifications.

• Travel out of town for short durations as required by projects and assignments.

• Attend and lead both internal and external meetings.

• Follow oral and written instructions, warning signs, equipment-use requirements, and other policies.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

• PE registration is mandatory.

• A minimum of 7+ years of experience in designing and engineering transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV.

• Strong proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Tower.

• Familiarity with MFAD, LPILE, and NESC requirements.

• Understanding of NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and RUS design standards.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment.

• Professional interaction skills with all levels of management.

• Capable of managing a diverse workload and navigating challenging situations efficiently and effectively.

• Excellent and professional communication skills with supervisors, employees, and others in individual or team settings.

• Willingness to travel out of town for short periods as project and assignment requirements dictate.
