Senior Oracle Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee, design, implement, troubleshoot, administer, and provide support for enterprise Oracle relational database environments.

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, monitor, document, and maintain Oracle databases, including Oracle 19c, in both highly available production and non-production settings.

• Set and enforce database standards, procedures, and controls.

• Administer enterprise Oracle database environments and suggest improvements for database management, infrastructure platforms, and data distribution.

• Manage database naming conventions and structural standards, covering schemas, tables, indexes, records, and database objects.

• Ensure database security, manage privileged access, encryption, auditing, and adherence to regulatory compliance.

• Monitor backups, archive and redo logs, alert logs, performance statistics, capacity, and scheduled maintenance tasks.

• Design and support architectures that ensure high availability, replication, disaster recovery, standby databases, and clustering technologies.

• Convert logical database requirements into secure, maintainable designs and apply normalization or denormalization as needed.

• Plan and execute performance tests; monitor workloads and optimize SQL, PL/SQL, memory, storage, and database configuration.

• Manage tablespaces, datafiles, disk capacity, space utilization, database objects, and storage allocations.

• Implement, document, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures utilizing RMAN and related Oracle technologies.

• Provide production support, troubleshoot incidents, conduct root-cause analyses, and participate in after-hours support and maintenance.

• Keep documentation up to date for production, test, development, backup, and disaster recovery database environments.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, audit, and vendor teams to resolve issues, support audits, and provide necessary materials.

• Evaluate Oracle environments, tools, design aids, and service offerings; engage with vendors and recommend purchases or enhancements.

• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 8 years of relevant job experience.

• At least six years of experience supporting production database systems, including system analysis and/or programming, along with Oracle database administration.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Oracle Database 19c administration, architecture, security, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high-availability technologies.

• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and enterprise storage area networks.

• Familiarity with and compliance with applicable state and federal banking regulations and laws.

• Advanced knowledge of Oracle database administration and programming techniques, SQL and PL/SQL, schema and object management, patching, upgrades, maintenance, documentation, testing, debugging, performance tuning, capacity management, backup and recovery, and production operations.

• Capability to suggest procedures, implement enhanced Oracle database administration techniques, automate repetitive operational tasks, and improve database services while ensuring security, availability, and recoverability.

• Advanced skills in operating computer terminals and personal computers.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Intermediate mathematical skills, including calculating interest and percentages, balancing accounts, and computing rates, ratios, and percentages.

• Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Ability to make decisions that significantly impact the immediate work unit and cross-functional departments.

• Capacity to provide consultation and expert advice to management.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Oracle Certified Professional or a comparable Oracle technical certification is preferred.

• Experience with ITIL-based service management, project management, and Six Sigma or related quality and process improvement practices is preferred.
