This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more locations.
β’ Manage the daily operations of Mercury's Operational Risk program.
β’ Report directly to the Head of Operational Risk within the Risk organization under the Chief Risk Officer.
β’ Collaborate with first-line risk teams, Compliance, Third-Party Risk, Information Security, and Internal Audit.
β’ Establish standards for risk and control assessments; review and challenge first-line RCMs; conduct independent testing of design and operating effectiveness on critical processes; report findings.
β’ Supervise the operational event program, which includes root-cause analysis, rating, remediation, and enterprise trend analysis.
β’ Oversee centralized issues management from intake and triage through to tracking, validation, and closure of remediation efforts.
β’ Define enterprise Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and thresholds aligned with risk appetite, aggregating metrics for Board reporting.
β’ Collaborate with 1LOD teams, Information Security, Compliance, and model risk owners to gather inputs and critically assess evaluations.
β’ Provide a second-line review and approval for high-risk new initiatives.
β’ Develop and maintain ORM standards, procedures, and templates.
β’ Assist with regulatory examinations, audits, and charter readiness reviews.
β’ Build and enhance the operational risk program as Mercury transitions to operate as a bank.
β’ A minimum of 8 years of experience in operational risk, compliance, or internal audit within a bank or a fintech associated with a bank.
β’ Proven hands-on management of an issues management or operational event program, including severity rating, escalation, and validation of remediation efforts.
β’ Experience with a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform (such as LogicGate, Archer, or equivalent), including workflow configuration and reporting capabilities.
β’ Strong analytical and data skills.
β’ Knowledge of interagency and OCC requirements for operational risk management.
β’ Capability to constructively challenge assessments with supporting evidence while fostering strong relationships.
β’ Proven ability to identify, prioritize, and independently execute key projects.
β’ Willingness to work in San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, Portland, OR, or remotely from within Canada or the United States.
