This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Take ownership of data center network architecture throughout the portfolio, encompassing core and distribution switching, routing, out-of-band management, addressing and DNS, firewalls, remote access, standards, and reference designs.
β’ Design physical-layer infrastructure for facilities, including structured cabling, pathways, cable management, cabinets, cross-connects, as well as fiber and copper plant.
β’ Manage site network security, covering firewall policies, intrusion detection and prevention, segmentation, zone access control, secure remote access, and monitoring-stack logging.
β’ Develop colocation networking, which includes customer handoffs, cross-connect provisioning, and consistent tenant connectivity turn-up.
β’ Collaborate with controls and security teams on OT networking, focusing on IT/OT segmentation, SCADA and BMS zones, and dependable controls traffic paths.
β’ Create specifications, drawings, and bills of material for contractors and low-voltage vendors; assess designs and submittals.
β’ Oversee network commissioning, including point-to-point testing, fiber certification, labeling, as-built drawings, and turnover documentation.
β’ Manage production networks through monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, change control, configuration and firmware management, backups, and root cause analysis.
β’ Engage in an on-call rotation and act as an escalation point for network incidents at live sites.
β’ Maintain standards, runbooks, and documentation for consistent site deployments.
β’ A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing and operating enterprise or data center networks, with at least one project carried from design through commissioning into live operation.
β’ Proficient hands-on knowledge in routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, spanning tree, link aggregation, firewalls, and out-of-band management.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of vendor-agnostic networking.
β’ Practical experience in network security, including next-generation firewall policy design and maintenance, intrusion detection and prevention, segmentation, least-privilege access, secure remote access, and network logging and alerting.
β’ Fluency in structured cabling, covering fiber types and loss budgets, single-mode and multimode tradeoffs, pathway planning, and TIA-942 or equivalent standards.
β’ Capability to read and annotate construction drawings, riser diagrams, and floor plans.
β’ Ability to participate in design reviews with general contractors and low-voltage subcontractors.
β’ Experience in managing a production network where downtime carries significant consequences, including change control, monitoring, and troubleshooting live issues under pressure.
β’ Proven experience in establishing network standards from the ground up.
β’ Willingness to travel frequently to active sites.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in electrical, computer, or network engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
