Senior Network Engineer/Consultant – Networking, Automation & AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Strategize and manage highly reliable networks for nationwide retail operations.

• Develop comprehensive WLAN environments incorporating NAC and 802.1X for energy sector clients.

• Facilitate transitions to SD-WAN networks utilizing Cisco Viptela/Catalyst SD-WAN or Fortinet solutions.

• Investigate network-stack incidents for global manufacturing corporations.

• Coordinate AI agents with n8n to streamline and automate repetitive networking tasks.

• Create and uphold a Network Source of Truth using NetBox or Nautobot.

• Construct, modify, and manage intricate WAN, LAN, and WLAN infrastructures.

• Conduct migrations and deployments from conventional networks to Software-Defined Networking (SDN) methodologies.

• Carry out troubleshooting and log analysis to pinpoint performance bottlenecks.

• Oversee incidents, changes, and problems in alignment with ITIL standards.

• Design and document network architectures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational models.

• Provide guidance on emerging technologies, including vendor evaluations and strategic planning.

• Take on partial project responsibilities if interested.

⛳️ Requirements

• CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE certification, along with significant hands-on experience across various architectures and technical integrations.

• Strong critical thinking skills regarding AI outputs and accountability for agent outcomes.

• Extensive knowledge of WAN technologies: routing, MPLS, IPsec, DMVPN, SD-WAN, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.

• Proficient in LAN technologies: switching, VLANs, trunking (802.1Q), port security, STP, CDP/LLDP.

• Familiar with WLAN technologies: WPA2 and WPA3, WLAN controllers, 802.11ac/ax/be (Wi-Fi 5/6/6E/7).

• Understanding of VPN concepts: IPsec, IKEv1/v2, TLS-based VPNs, and remote access methodologies.

• Skilled in troubleshooting and analysis using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and Packet Tracer.

• Knowledge of REST APIs, SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, YAML/JSON, and familiarity with tools like Postman or Bruno.

• Proficiency in German at a minimum C1 level.

• Proficiency in English at a minimum B1/B2 level.

• Eagerness to learn and pursue ongoing professional development.

• Nice to have: Training in Cisco AIBIZ, AITECH, DCAI, or similar AI programs; experience with n8n or similar automation platforms; familiarity with NetBox, Nautobot, or similar Single Source of Truth/Network Source of Truth platforms; knowledge of monitoring, logging, and SIEM solutions such as Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana, or QRadar; experience with NetBox Copilot and AI-assisted infrastructure workflows.
