Resident Network Engineer – Enterprise Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main technical resource for enterprise network operations and infrastructure projects.

• Serve as a technical intermediary between customer teams, networking support, and engineering resources.

• Assist with extensive campus switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure.

• Diagnose complex network problems and spearhead technical investigations for critical business incidents.

• Provide support for network upgrades, technology refreshes, migrations, and infrastructure expansion initiatives.

• Create implementation strategies, testing and validation protocols, rollback plans, and operational runbooks.

• Plan and assist with software updates, hardware replacements, RMA activities, and network lifecycle management.

• Evaluate network performance and suggest enhancements to reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

• Assist with VLANs, spanning tree, link aggregation, routing, multicast, and high-availability technologies.

• Support environments using EX Series and QFX Series switching platforms.

• Facilitate EVPN/VXLAN architectures where applicable.

• Monitor network health and performance, providing regular technical and executive status reports.

• Support wireless environments using Mist Wireless Assurance, Mist Wired Assurance, and Marvis AI.

• Leverage AI-driven networking insights and analytics to identify and resolve network and user experience challenges.

• Aid in large-scale network migration and modernization efforts, including transitions from legacy environments to cloud-managed solutions.

• Conduct root cause analysis and formulate corrective and preventative measures.

• Coordinate critical technical challenges through relevant networking support and engineering teams.

• Maintain network documentation, configuration standards, operational processes, and troubleshooting manuals.

• Offer technical mentorship and knowledge transfer to customer personnel.

• Identify opportunities for automation, process enhancements, and operational efficiency improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in supporting large-scale enterprise network environments.

• Extensive knowledge of enterprise switching and routing technologies.

• Practical experience with EX Series and QFX Series switching platforms.

• Background in supporting large campus network deployments and production environments.

• Strong comprehension of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts.

• Familiarity with OSPF and BGP protocols.

• Experience with Mist Wireless Assurance, Mist Wired Assurance, and Marvis AI.

• Background in supporting large-scale wireless deployments and transitions.

• Excellent troubleshooting, fault isolation, and root cause analysis abilities.

• Experience with network migrations, upgrades, modernization, and infrastructure refresh projects.

• Proven experience collaborating with networking support and engineering organizations.

• Strong communication and relationship management skills in customer-facing roles.

• Ability to work independently and function as a trusted technical advisor.

• Proficient documentation, presentation, and knowledge-transfer capabilities.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
