This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of network architecture and design for campus LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and network security implementations.
• Act as the technical lead and delivery authority for intricate network deployments.
• Offer hands-on engineering support while guiding engineers and field resources throughout project execution.
• Drive pre-sales solution design, including conducting discovery sessions, creating architecture documentation, developing bill-of-materials, and supporting technical proposals.
• Design, configure, deploy, and validate solutions from Extreme Networks and Fortinet.
• Create and uphold networking architecture standards, design templates, and configuration baselines.
• Perform network assessments and health reviews, generating findings reports and remediation roadmaps.
• Work in collaboration with solutions architects and account managers to confirm scope, identify technical risks, and formulate statements of work.
• Mentor and nurture junior and mid-level network engineers through project involvement, design reviews, and technical coaching.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of vendor ecosystems, licensing models, support structures, and roadmaps.
• Represent Harbor IT's networking practice during client-facing architecture reviews, executive briefings, and discussions on technology strategy.
• Expert-level hands-on experience with Extreme Networks platforms, including EXOS/VOSS campus switching, ExtremeCloud IQ, AP series, and network management — required.
• Expert-level hands-on experience with Fortinet platforms, such as FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiClient EMS — required.
• Strong background in architecture and design across LAN/WAN, campus networking, SD-WAN, network segmentation, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and next-generation firewall policy design.
• Capability to convert business requirements into network architecture designs and produce client-ready diagrams, BOMs, and design rationales.
• Experience leading network deployments as the senior technical resource, coordinating field engineers, managing vendor resources, and validating final configurations.
• Knowledge of zero-trust segmentation, NGFW policy, NAC, and secure SD-WAN in enterprise and mid-market settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences, including pre-sales proposals.
• Ability to function in an MSP professional services environment with multiple client engagements, billable utilization expectations, and cross-functional coordination.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Over 7 years of network engineering and architecture experience, with at least 3 years in a senior architecture or lead engineer capacity.
• ExtremeCloud IQ or EXOS/VOSS certification is strongly preferred.
• NSE 4 minimum is required; NSE 7 or higher is strongly preferred.
• Essential expertise in FortiGate and FortiManager.
• Additional certifications are a plus: CCNP, CWNA/CWSP, and SD-WAN vendor certifications.
• Preferred background in MSP or consulting delivery, with experience managing multiple concurrent client environments.
