Senior Mobile Engineer – Instrumentation SDK, iOS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS utilizing Swift/Objective-C.

• Design and implement session tracking, crash reporting, sampling strategies, automatic context propagation, and integrations with OpenTelemetry.

• Take ownership of projects from start to finish.

• Deconstruct vague problems into manageable deliverables, launch MVPs, collect feedback, and iterate on solutions.

• Maintain quality through automated testing, continuous integration, documentation, and ensuring backwards-compatible upgrades.

• Collaborate with teams across backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering.

• Participate in the open-source community via PR reviews, design discussions, and guidance for contributors.

• Mentor colleagues and help define the mobile observability strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive mobile engineering experience with iOS (Swift/Obj-C); knowledge of Android (Kotlin/Java) is a plus.

• Proven experience in building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-focused platform code utilized by external developers.

• Proficiency in performance-sensitive coding, emphasizing startup time, memory usage, and network efficiency.

• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry or experience in contributing to or maintaining OTel SDKs or similar telemetry libraries.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable working within a fully remote, globally distributed team environment.

• Self-motivated individual capable of working both independently and collaboratively in ambiguous situations.

• Customer-oriented and passionate about enhancing developer experience.

• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or other observability open-source software are advantageous.

• Experience with React Native, Flutter, mobile security/privacy, crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling are considered bonus points.
