Senior Mobile Engineer – Instrumentation SDK, iOS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS (Swift / Obj-C)

• Create and implement features for session tracking, crash reporting, sampling, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integration

• Take ownership of projects from start to finish

• Decompose ambiguous issues into manageable tasks, deliver MVPs, collect feedback, and iterate

• Maintain quality through automated testing, CI, thorough documentation, and backward-compatible upgrade paths

• Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams

• Engage with the open-source community by reviewing pull requests, discussing design concepts, and guiding contributors

• Mentor colleagues, participate in technical design discussions, and contribute to the mobile observability roadmap

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong mobile engineering experience with iOS (Swift/Obj-C); experience with Android (Kotlin/Java) is a plus

• Proven ability to build or maintain mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code utilized by external developers

• Familiarity with performance-sensitive coding, including startup time, memory, and network efficiency

• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry or experience in contributing to/maintaining OTel SDKs or similar telemetry libraries

• Comfortable working in a fully remote, globally distributed team environment

• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or other observability open-source software are advantageous

• Experience with React Native, Flutter, native bindings/bridges, mobile security, privacy, platform integration, crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling are additional assets
