Senior Mining Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical guidance on intricate surface mining projects throughout North America.

• Assist mining initiatives from preliminary studies to detailed engineering and construction support.

• Act as a senior technical asset for diverse project teams.

• Collaborate with clients on mine access planning, selection of mining methods, mine development strategies, and infrastructure needs.

• Provide specialized knowledge in open pit design and phase planning.

• Assess haulage systems, fleet necessities, and equipment strategies.

• Create and refine mine schedules and production plans.

• Aid in estimating capital and operational costs.

• Coordinate with mining, civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, environmental, and water resources engineering teams.

• Draft and evaluate technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and design packages.

• Engage in interdisciplinary design reviews and address technical challenges.

• Assist in construction engineering, field investigations, commissioning, and troubleshooting operations.

• Ensure engineering tasks align with client expectations, industry standards, and AECOM quality procedures.

• Travel is required up to 20% domestically and internationally.

⛳️ Requirements

• A BS/BA in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline, accompanied by 6+ years of relevant experience, or a proven equivalency of experience and/or education.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of progressive experience in mining engineering.

• Familiarity with Minesight (MPSO), Deswik (Spatial-LHS-IS), Datamine (NPVS/Minemax), Vulcan, or comparable software.

• Experience with Whittle software.

• Background in prefeasibility and feasibility studies.

• Strong technical acumen.

• Solid engineering judgment.

• Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Willingness to travel 20% domestically and internationally, which may include extended assignments.
