Senior MES Project Engineer – Pulp & Paper

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Serve as a technical expert in MES engineering solutions specifically for the pulp and paper industry.

• Ensure that project execution conforms to contractual obligations, quality standards, safety regulations, and cybersecurity guidelines.

• Work closely with clients to comprehend their requirements and propose customized MES solutions.

• Integrate ongoing customer feedback throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Facilitate technical discussions with clients and relevant stakeholders.

• Assist in the development of proposals, scope definitions, and technical estimates.

• Create work plans and cost estimates.

• Ensure projects are implemented on schedule and within budget.

• Collaborate with internal departments to guarantee that systems are manufactured, tested, installed, and commissioned properly.

• Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers in their technical growth.

• Advocate for best practices, evaluate deliverables, and disseminate lessons learned.

• Report directly to the Digital Solution Engineering Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the pulp and paper process manufacturing sector.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with MES platforms like ABB MES, Honeywell Optivision, Majiq Elixor, Tieto MES, or similar systems.

• Demonstrated involvement in complete MES lifecycle implementations, covering design, development, commissioning, stabilization, and support.

• Strong understanding of ISA-95 / ISA-88 standards and manufacturing data models.

• Experience in integrating MES with DCS/PLC systems, historians, and ERP systems.

• Proficient in database management with SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.

• Capable of designing system architecture and integration strategies.

• Experience in large industrial projects with cross-functional teams.

• Familiarity with integration protocols such as OPC UA, OPC DA, REST APIs, and MQTT.

• Experience in developing reports and dashboards using Crystal Reports, SSRS, and/or Power BI.

• Knowledge of Linux administration, BSH/C programming, and GNU compiler/debugger.

• Experience with SAP Business Objects reporting.

• Familiarity with analytics platforms like Python, ABB Genix, or similar tools.

• Understanding of cybersecurity practices within operational technology (OT) environments.

• Knowledge of Advanced Process Control (APC) integration with MES.

• Experience in mining or other process industries beyond the pulp and paper sector.
