This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Execute medical editing, copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking for both digital and print pharmaceutical advertising materials, as well as internal and external presentations and corporate communications.
• Edit for clarity of language, consistency, brand messaging accuracy, balance, tone, cohesiveness, flow, organization, style, grammar, spelling, typographical errors, and formatting.
• Verify facts in materials to ensure comprehensive and precise support for claims.
• Engage in the development and content review processes throughout all phases of projects.
• Assess content for spelling, grammar, clarity, fulfillment of creative briefs, adherence to client and AMA style, and accurate referencing.
• Follow up with Creative, Copywriters, and Account teams on content revisions.
• Collaborate with Creative, Account, Project Management, and other team members to prioritize projects and ensure timely completion.
• Independently address project-detail inquiries with Account and/or Project Management.
• Represent the department in internal kickoff and status meetings.
• Ensure that materials adhere to client-specific medical, regulatory, and legal standards.
• Create and maintain style guides for clients and brands.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior team members as necessary.
• Lead or co-lead team initiatives and develop best-practice and process documentation.
• Notify Editorial Directors of any editorial process or quality concerns and work together to resolve issues.
• Show a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Carry out other assigned duties.
• A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education along with professional experience) is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of editing experience in the healthcare and/or pharmaceutical sector is necessary.
• At least 1 year of experience in the advertising and/or marketing field is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of AMA (10th edition) style and familiarity with AP style is essential.
• Experience with medical, regulatory, and legal reviews is required.
• Understanding of FDA requirements for drug promotion is necessary.
• Ability to comprehend medical and scientific terminology is required.
• Highly detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate.
• Demonstrated experience managing rapidly changing priorities and deadlines in high-pressure environments.
• Capability to take ownership, be accountable, and work independently.
• Digitally proficient with outstanding verbal, written, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in editing and working with Microsoft Office suite as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional.
