Senior Mechanical Designer – Nuclear Power

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate under the guidance of the Mechanical Project Lead.

• Partner with multi-disciplinary engineering and design project teams to create mechanical physical layout drawings using a 3-D model.

• Design mechanical systems while investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical design challenges.

• Employ 3D modeling software tools to produce mechanical design schematics.

• Serve as the Mechanical Design Team Lead to coordinate detailed design phases for all elements of an integrated mechanical design model.

• Oversee and guide other designers and project team members to ensure timely and complete design execution.

• Independently plan and deliver design outputs, including general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, and equipment location drawings.

• Conduct field walkdowns and collect data at client facilities whenever possible.

• Mentor junior drafters and designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with 1 or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• At least ten years of detailed physical design experience in developing mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.

• Proficient with design software tools for executing 3D plant layout models.

• Experience in reviewing mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, and coordinating the development of related deliverables.

• Ability to collaborate with engineering and design teams from other disciplines in the power plant design process.

• Proficiency in MicroStation is preferred but not mandatory.
