This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Provide legal support for strategic contracting activities in the U.S. and Canada MedSurg sectors.
• Act as the primary legal advisor for agreements related to GPOs, IDNs, health systems, distributors, customers, DME, services, and government/public-sector transactions.
• Draft, negotiate, and offer counsel on intricate commercial agreements, contract templates, and strategic enterprise contracting initiatives.
• Collaborate with teams involved in commercial contracting, sales, pricing, finance, compliance, and business operations.
• Structure and negotiate arrangements with customers, GPOs, and IDNs.
• Ensure that contracts receive approvals through the appropriate governance channels and are aligned with business goals.
• Maintain and enhance contracting playbooks, negotiation strategies, escalation criteria, contract standards, negotiation guidance, and practical tools.
• Offer strategic advice on pricing, rebates, administrative fees, discounts, customer incentive programs, and commercial risks.
• Represent Legal on pricing committees.
• Provide guidance on matters related to healthcare fraud and abuse, antitrust, governance, and compliance considerations.
• Support Solventum’s U.S. Durable Medical Equipment business with customer, patient, payor, supplier, accreditation, service, billing, and operational contracting issues.
• Advise on government and public-sector contracting, including Federal Supply Schedule, Veterans Administration, and federal, state, and local government requirements.
• Assist with contract administration, certifications, reporting obligations, and related compliance tasks.
• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to MedSurg commercial leadership.
• Provide direction on negotiations, strategic initiatives, contracting governance, training, risk mitigation, and process enhancements.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree must be completed and verified from an accredited law school before the start date.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of legal experience is required.
• Must hold an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial and government agreements, including those involving GPOs, IDNs, health systems, and distributors.
• Background in supporting healthcare, medical device, life sciences, durable medical equipment (DME), or other regulated industries.
• Experience advising on issues related to healthcare fraud and abuse, government programs, or public-sector contracting.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without the need for sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Previous in-house legal experience within a large, matrixed, global organization is preferred.
• Experience in supporting medical device technologies, DME operations, healthcare services, or patient-facing service models.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance matters, including Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Sunshine Act, HIPAA/privacy, FDA/regulatory, and healthcare reimbursement.
• Experience with strategic pricing committees, contract governance processes, or high-value commercial transactions.
• Familiarity with FSS/VA contracting, government contract administration, or SAM.gov-related processes.
• Skills in developing templates, playbooks, training materials, or contracting tools.
• Experience in advising senior business leaders on complex legal and commercial issues.
• Proficiency in assessing legal, regulatory, commercial, or operational risks and providing business-oriented recommendations.
