
Senior Manager, Whole Loan Trading – First-Line Model Governance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of the Whole Loan Trading and First-Line Model Governance function, reporting directly to the Head of Secured Lending.
• Supervise a dedicated team of asset quality analysts across home equity lines of credit, and both auto direct and auto indirect dealer channels.
• Establish review methodologies, operational rhythms, reporting standards, and escalation procedures.
• Assess portfolio-level salability risks, including adherence to eligibility, defect patterns, collateral documentation quality, and concentrations of exceptions.
• Raise concerns regarding repurchase and put-back risks with Capital Markets and banking partners.
• Track asset quality and performance metrics, including early payment defaults, delinquency rates, loss severity, prepayment trends, non-performing loans, exception patterns, and threshold breaches.
• Analyze the quality of origination and channels, collateral documentation, lien perfection, pricing consistency, dealer or partner performance, concentration risks, and fair lending exposure.
• Manage first-line model implementation and performance oversight, which includes production monitoring, threshold tracking, version control, use-case boundaries, updates to model inventory, and assessing change impacts.
• Identify root causes of issues, define remediation strategies, monitor issue resolution, and escalate risks prior to impacting loan sales, partner commitments, or regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with teams across Credit Risk, Capital Markets, Model Risk Management, Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and banking partners.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in business-line credit risk, loan quality, asset-backed or secured lending operations, or first-line model governance related to secured or asset-backed consumer lending products.
• Proven experience with loan-level quality reviews, oversight of loan salability, Capital Markets or investor deliveries, managing repurchase or put-back risks, conducting bank partner audits, collateral documentation reviews, or pre-sale quality control in a regulated lending setting.
• Demonstrated capability in monitoring portfolio performance and asset quality indicators across various origination channels.
• Experience with first-line model oversight, production model monitoring, governance of model implementation, documentation of model inventory, or processes for escalating model performance issues.
• Background in collaborating with Capital Markets, investors, bank partners, or funding teams to assess loan eligibility, address delivery exceptions, interpret investor requirements, and mitigate exposure to repurchase, put-back, or make-whole scenarios.
• Experience in leading teams of analysts, managing a review function, or overseeing cross-functional programs related to loan salability, asset quality, credit, or first-line model governance.
• Preferred: familiarity with the dynamics of auto indirect or dealer channel lending and considerations for fair lending.
• Preferred: understanding of secured lending and expectations for secondary-market quality.
• Preferred: knowledge of consumer lending and fair lending regulations, including ECOA/Regulation B, UDAAP, FCRA, TILA/Regulation Z, oversight of dealer markups, adverse actions, or credit decision controls.
• Preferred: capability to assess production model execution, validation outputs, fair lending review outcomes, underwriting accuracy, pricing consistency, and performance trends.
• Preferred: skill in producing exam-ready policy documents, governance materials, tracking issues, executive summaries, and reporting for bank partners.
• Preferred: risk or compliance certifications such as Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager or Financial Risk Manager.
