Business Risk Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more locations.

📋 Description

• Identify potential gaps in processes and controls, recommending commercial enhancements or improvements.

• Facilitate initiatives and reviews for pre-launch and new activities, ensuring items are tracked to closure and escalated when necessary.

• Conduct risk self-assessments and related exercises within non-financial risk frameworks.

• Oversee events, incidents, issues, and remediations to completion in accordance with relevant company frameworks.

• Develop and continuously refine KPIs and KRIs for effective risk mitigation.

• Coordinate responses from Product and Operations to internal and external audits, examinations, and similar assessments.

• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and other relevant stakeholders.

• Assist in designing and providing feedback on enterprise-wide training, delivering training as required.

• Report directly to the Head of Business Risk & Enablement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5–7+ years of experience in banking, fintech, or other financial services in product/business, business risks and/or controls, operational risk, or similar positions.

• Proven ability to balance risk, compliance, and customer experience in cross-functional environments.

• Exceptional communication skills to distill complex business, regulatory, and/or risk concepts into straightforward explanations and recommendations.

• Knowledge of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) practices and non-financial risk frameworks.

• Inquisitive, growth-oriented, and driven to engage with risk and controls at all stages of the lifecycle.

• A collaborative, problem-solving approach.

• Strong skills in stakeholder management.

• Capacity to influence without having direct authority.

• High standards for quality and a strong sense of ownership.

• Proficient with AI tools or eager to attain proficiency.

• Preferred: experience with product or technology development lifecycles, including pre-launch reviews, feature rollouts, or cross-functional builds.
